Couple Counselling, Relationship therapy and Counsellor Training in the Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate and Wetherby area
I'm currently taking a few weeks off after a bereavement.
Are you a couple looking for an experienced relationship counsellor?
An individual looking for help with relationships?
Does life feel like its getting on top of you?
Could you benefit from a place to take some time-out?
... to explore your thoughts and feelings
... to have better relationships
... to get back on a front foot again
I have been a practising couple counsellor in Leeds for the past 19 years. I am committed to providing counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment.
As well as couple counselling I am also a counsellor for individuals experiencing relationship problems. Counselling is on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.
I am experienced in helping clients who have experienced difficulties with :
- Relationships
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Bereavement
- Redundancy
- Depression
- Divorce
- An affair
In the counselling we will look in detail at what is currently happening in your relationships. This could be about rows, an affair, divorce, ill health, redundancy, the pandemic. We will then link your thoughts and feelings to areas of your life that may have influenced your experience. This could be about your family life when you were growing up; your previous relationship experiences; what your peers are saying; what's happening in your work and your neighbourhood; your culture; and your hopes for the future. This gives you better ideas of what you wish to change in your life. The counselling offers a safe space to experiment and explore.
Counselling sessions can be via Webcam from anywhere in the UK. For couple counselling, you can be in different locations as a couple.
My North Leeds counselling practice is within easy reach of Harrogate, Bradford and Wetherby.
I also offer relationship counsellor training in the Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate and Wetherby area. I have trained people as relationship therapists at different academic levels. My teaching style is clear, varied and creative.
Do be in touch if you are a couple looking for counselling or an individual wanting to improve your relationships. It would be good to meet you. - Client feedback:
- "I think we were quite surprised when we first spoke to Anne and she told us that there would be many factors affecting the negative cycles that we had fallen into in our relationship - we were probably hoping to find the one thing we could 'fix'. But as the weeks went on and we started to open up about many areas of our lives - both as a couple and as individuals - we began to understand that many forces were at play. We explored our previous relationship history, our family lives, how we take care of ourselves and how we communicate with each other on a daily basis and during conflict. The understanding that we gained of ourselves and each other during the sessions, combined with the tools to help us overcome difficulties in communication, have had an incredible impact on our marriage and our life together as a family. Anne was an excellent guide through this process; her professionalism, her fairness and her deep understanding of relationships made us both feel safe to talk and supported in exploring our feelings. We are really grateful we found Anne." Couple clients March 24
"We came to Anne looking for help with a big life decision we were having trouble talking about. Anne was brilliant at removing the fear and anxiety that clouds these kind of things, and helping us reflect on our values and each other's hopes and dreams for the future. Having our sessions each week also gave these difficult conversations a home, which stopped them creeping into other aspects of life. We came out of the process feeling far happier, communicating better, and looking forward to the future." Couple counselling feedback April 2023
"We have worked with Anne for a few months and both myself and my husband have found her approach to be really useful in understanding ourselves and what we each bring to our relationship. We have explored many areas of our relationship and, because of that, we have a much deeper understanding of how our actions and communication with each other impacts our day to day lives. We didn't have a huge problem, so to speak, we needed support to break out of a negative cycle of disconnect. We both feel that with the tools and better understanding that we have, we will be able to navigate that cycle much better now. Thank you Anne!" Couple counselling feedback April 2023
"Anne really helped us to handle conflict by giving us the skills to actively listen to understand each other's perspective before responding. This helped us communicate better, validate one another's point of view and ultimately come to much quicker resolutions. Anne as an independent, non-judgemental counsellor helped us get to this point and would highly recommend Anne to any couples in a similar position." Couple counselling feedback March 2022
"We have been seeing Anne for six months and are extremely pleased with her way of counselling us with our problems. She is wise, non- judgemental and kind, and we have found that she has a keen insight into our situation. We always feel better after our sessions with her." Couple counselling feedback May 2021
"We worked together with Anne on some issues in our relationship. She has been enormously insightful and we were amazed how she seemed to quite easily get to the heart of the problems and managed to give us new perspectives. We are in a much better place as a couple now and we are very thankful to Anne who is very professional and at the same time very easy to talk to." Couple counselling feedback January 2021
"The counselling has been very helpful, given a space to talk about things that we wouldn't otherwise raise. It's been helpful to have a neutral person to talk to and to have ideas to work on." Couple counselling feedback August 2020
"I think that the counselling was life changing. I feel different now. I no longer feel that I have a big problem in the background. The most useful thing was thinking about my values and realising that some of them were different from my family. It helped me to empathise with them." Counselling client feedback May 2020
